BYU School of Music offers free events March 20-26

Brigham Young University’s School of Music will host four free events on campus from Saturday, March 20, through Friday, March 26. All performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

• CANCELED: On Saturday, March 20, faculty artist Douglas E. Bush will present an organ recital to commemorate Johann Sebastian Bach's birthday.

• A Jazz Combo Night will be held Tuesday, March 23. The concert will be directed by Ray Smith.

• On Thursday, March 25, the School of Music will present student musicians in Saxophone Chamber Night.

• The Woodwind Chamber Night concert will be held Friday, March 26. The recital will feature a variety of works from the woodwind chamber music genre. The music will range in style from composers Gustav Holst and Paul Hindemith to Astor Piazzolla and Chick Corea.

Green-thumb dynasty: BYU landscaping wins fifth national championship in six years

For the fifth time in six years, BYU students dug, pruned and planted their way to the National Collegiate Landscaping Competition title, the March Madness of college landscaping teams. BYU bested 50 other universities in the four-day event, outscoring the second-place finisher by more than 358 points and breaking the 5000-point total for the first time in the 48-year history of the tournament.
