BYU Risk Management and Safety lists staff changes

BYU's Office of Risk Management and Safety recently experienced an organizational change.

Michael Bledsoe has been named safety director as of July 1, and Dennis Moss has replaced Bledsoe as the campus fire marshall, said Michael R. Orme, BYU General Counsel.

"Mike's leadership and managerial skills, knowledge of safety issues, communication skills and continued support of the university's mission will only enhance the efforts of Risk Management and Safety," said Orme.

Bledsoe graduated from BYU with a bachelor of science degree in physical education and community health and has done graduate work in public administration. Before coming to BYU in 2002 he was employed with the Provo City Fire Department, including serving eight years as the deputy chief responsible for fire prevention and safety.

Moss comes to BYU with a background in plan review, code interpretation, inspections, fire and life safety, and with exceptional organizational and supervisory skills, according to Orme.

He has attended the National Fire Academy to perfect skills in fire prevention, and is certified in building inspections, arson investigation, plan review, code management and fire prevention. He received the Fire Code Certification from the International Conference of Building Officials.

His service includes eight years as a commissioner on the Utah State Building Commission, and he is currently on the Western Region Fire Code Committee for the National Fire Protection Association.

Moss attended Weber State to become a paramedic, and is completing his last semester at the University of Utah to finish his degree in French.
