BYU receives record matching donation from Exxon-Mobil

Brigham Young University recently received a donation from ExxonMobil Corporation for $122,379 through its 3-to-1 matching program, making it the largest corporate-employee matching donation ever received by BYU.

Sixty-three ExxonMobil employees, as well as BYU Alumni, donated $65,793 to BYU. ExxonMobil matched the donations 3-to-1 up to $5,000.

An additional $29,000 will come from the BYU President's Leadership Council. The total amount BYU will receive is more than $217,000.

Those making contributions designated how the funds should be used. Some chose scholarships or mentored student learning, while others chose a specific college. Other donors left the designation to the discretion of BYU, taking advantage of additional fund matching provided by the PLC through the University Annual Fund, president's priorities or any of the college annual funds.

BYU professors using game-changing strategies to prevent injuries, promote wellbeing in youth athletes

May 07, 2024
BYU professor Matt Seeley created the Strong Youth Project after watching all five of his children participate in youth sports. While he loves the many invaluable benefits of youth sports, he laments that his children often miss family activities for practice or face pressures to compete in sports during the offseason. These concerns have fueled his collaboration with professors from disciplines across BYU’s campus to improve organized sport experiences for youth, parents and coaches.
