BYU to raise undergraduate tuition 5.1 percent in 2009-2010

Brigham Young University will raise tuition by 5.1 percent, or $105, for the 2009-2010 academic year, bringing the undergraduate rate per semester to $2,145.

Next year's tuition for advanced-standing (graduate) students will be raised from $2,580 to $2,710 per semester, also an increase of 5.1 percent. Law School and Graduate School of Management students will pay $4,990, an increase of $370 or 8 percent.

The university will also raise undergraduate tuition by 5.1 percent for spring and summer terms, increasing the rate from $1,020 to $1,073. Spring/summer 2010 rates for advanced-standing students will be $1,355, an increase of $65.

As in the past, students who are not members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will pay twice the listed rates, and those rates will also reflect the 5.1 percent increase for undergraduate and advanced-standing students as well as the 8 percent for law and graduate management students.

Non-LDS undergraduates will pay $4,290, an increase of $210; advanced standing students will pay $5,420, an increase of $260; and law and business graduate students will pay $9,980, an increase of $740.
