BYU posts holiday hours for museums, library, Bookstore, facilities

For those who might be looking for some activities during the Christmas break, Brigham Young University has posted holiday hours for some of its popular facilities:

BYU Bookstore

• Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Will be open at a variety of hours during the Christmas break. View Christmas hours at http://www.byubookstore.com/.

Campus Craft and Floral

• Closed Dec. 24-25, Dec. 31-Jan. 1.

• Open Dec. 22-23, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Regular hours other days: Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Games Center (Bowling Alley)

• Closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1.

• Closing Dec. 31 at 6 p.m.

• Regular hours other days: Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to midnight; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Outdoors Unlimited

• Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

• Closing Dec. 24 at 4 p.m. and Dec. 31 at 4 p.m.

• Regular hours other days: Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Cougar Creations Copy Center

• Closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1-2.

• Closing Dec. 31 at 4 p.m.

• Open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. other days.

BYU Barbershop

• Closed Dec. 24-26, Jan. 1.

• Regular hours other days: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Cougareat Food Court

• View Christmas hours for each restaurant at http://dining.byu.edu/cougareat.

Creamery on Ninth East

• Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

• Closing Dec. 24 at 2 p.m. and Dec. 31 at 6 p.m.

• Open the rest of the holiday: Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Dining Services

• The following restaurants will be closed Dec. 20, reopening Jan. 5: the Skyroom, Legends Grill, Museum of Art Café and Blue Line Deli.

Museum of Art

• Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

• Closing Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 at 4 p.m.

• Regular hours other days: Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, noon to 5 p.m.

Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum

• Closed Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1.

• Closing Dec. 26, 31 and Jan. 2at 5 p.m.

• Regular hours other days: Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Museum of Peoples and Cultures (700 North 100 East, Provo)

• Closed Dec. 24-26 and Dec. 31-Jan. 3.

• Regular hours other days: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Harold B. Lee Library

• View Christmas hours at http://www.lib.byu.edu/hours_vac.php.

Physical Education Facilities

• The Richards Building and Smith Fieldhouse will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Regular hours other days: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily except Sundays. Normal student eligibility rules for using these facilities still apply during the Christmas break.

• RB swimming pools and women’s locker room will be open for faculty swim Tuesday, Dec. 23, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and open swim from 5-7:50 p.m. The pools will also be open for free swim Saturday, Dec. 27 from 1-7:50 p.m. The women’s locker room and RB pools will close Monday, Dec. 29, reopening Monday, Jan. 5 at 6 a.m. and resuming regular operating hours for the winter semester.

• RB and SFH locker room clothing service, SFH weight rooms and RB Information Window will all be open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., except Wednesday, Dec. 24, and Wednesday, Dec. 31, when each will close at noon.

Fine Arts Ticket Office, Harris Fine Arts Center

• The Fine Arts Ticket Office will be closed Dec. 22-Jan. 4. Patrons may buy tickets for upcoming events online 24/7 at www.byuarts.com.

BYU’s space ace: Minor planet named in honor of Jani Radebaugh

BYU planetary geology professor Jani Radebaugh’s contributions to planetary science have reached cosmic proportions as she recently received the prestigious honor of having a minor planet named her. The asteroid, previously known as “45690,” now bears the name “45690janiradebaugh” on official NASA/JPL websites.
