BYU Philharmonic in concert Feb. 13

The Brigham Young University School of Music presents the Philharmonic Orchestra in concert Friday, Feb. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

Tickets at $9 with $3 off with a BYU or student ID are available through the Fine Arts Ticket Office, (801) 3789-4322 or at www.byu.edu/hfac.

“The first concert of winter semester for the BYU Philharmonic features some of the most brilliant and well-known music written for orchestra,” said Philharmonic conductor Kory Katseanes. “The program is unusual in that it features two orchestras.”

The program will include the Chamber Orchestra, part of the larger Philharmonic Orchestra, performing the Overture to “The Barber of Seville” and Bela Bartok’s “Divertimento for Strings.” The complete Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 in E Minor.

“The great variety of the program showcases the Philharmonic’s broad range of repertoire, and is the perfect opportunity for seasoned concert goers to remember why they fell in love with classical music in the first place,” Katseanes said. “And it gives new listeners a chance to experience a range of emotion they never thought possible.”

For more information about the Philharmonic Orchestra, contact Kory Katseanes at (801) 422-3331.
