BYU Jazz Ensemble in concert March 20

The Brigham Young University Jazz Ensemble will present "Old, New, Hot and Blue" featuring guest jazz vocalist Laura Workman Thursday (March 20) at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

The Jazz Ensemble will perform a variety of jazz music including swing-era oldies, vocal ballads, fusion, classics, blues and Latin.

Laura Workman, a freshman voice student at BYU, has won national honors for her jazz singing. In 2002, she was the only jazz vocalist to be invited to the National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts in Miami, Florida. She was also one of three jazz vocalists selected to sing in the Donna Reed Performing Arts Festival in Denison, Iowa. Workman is also a member of the University Singers at BYU.

"The goal with this concert is incredible variety," said Jazz Ensemble Director Lyle Durland. "This is sure to be one of the best free concerts on campus this year."
