BYU hosts Seventh Annual Rex E. Lee Run March 29

More than 2,000 runners are expected to participate during the seventh annual Rex E. Lee Memorial 5K Run scheduled for Saturday, March 29, at Brigham Young University.

The race, which last year raised almost $18,000 for cancer research, will start at 9 a.m. in the parking lot on 800 N. 150 East (across from The Brick Oven Restaurant).

Registration is now available at the Cancer Awareness Group booth in the Ernest L. Wilkinson Student Center and is also available online at www.rexleerun.org. The $10 registration fee includes a commemorative T-shirt, entry in the raffle, food, free massages and awards for division winners. Registration is $15 on the day of the race.

In addition to the race, the day includes the "Honor a Cancer Fighter" Program. A donor who does not choose to run the race can register to have a runner wear a certificate with the name of friends or family who have battled cancer. The certificate is returned to the donor at the completion of the race. Registration for this program can also be found at www.rexleerun.org.

The run is named in honor of Rex E. Lee, former BYU president who died of cancer in 1996. All proceeds from the event go directly to on-campus cancer research.

For more information, contact the BYU Cancer Research Center at (801) 422-3913.
