BYU hosts fall DanceSport Championships Nov. 15-16

Brigham Young University's fall DanceSport Championships will be held in the Wilkinson Student Center Ballroom Friday and Saturday (Nov. 15 and 16).

General admission seats are $7 ($12 for both days), reserved seats are $12 ($22 for both days) and reserved table seats are $16 ($30 for both days). Tickets are available at the Fine Arts Ticket Office at (801) 378-4322.

BYU holds the largest amateur ballroom dance competitions in the United States. These competitions are held each semester and are adjudicated by a qualified professional panel, according to Lee Wakefield, chair of the BYU Dance Department and director of BYU's Ballroom Dance Company.

Students may dance in their class competitions as well as open categories.

"The events and competitions give students an opportunity to see ballroom dancing at its highest form," said Wakefield.

For more information, please contact Wakefield at (801) 422-5087 or Curt Holman at (801) 422-5875.
