BYU hosts annual Social Work Conference Nov. 6-7

“Spirituality in Working with Families and Children” is theme

Brigham Young University’s College of Home, Family and Social Sciences will host the Third Annual Social Work Conference, titled “Spirituality in Working with Families and Children: Promoting a Strengths-Based Research Agenda,” Thursday and Friday, Nov. 6-7, at the Wilkinson Student Center.

Ram Cnaan, professor and director of the University of Pennsylvania’s Program for Religion and Social Policy Research, will give the keynote address. Cnaan conducted the first study on the role local congregations play in faith-based social services. His keynote address, “Does Religion Help Protect Youth from Engaging in Risky Behaviors? Findings from a National Study,” will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in 3328 WSC.

The conference is free, but registration is required. Registration forms and a complete schedule are available at spirituality.byu.edu.
