BYU hosts 36th annual Genealogy and Family History Conference Aug. 3–6

Brigham Young University will host the 36th annual BYU Genealogy and Family History Conference Aug. 3–6 at the Conference Center northeast of the Marriott Center on the BYU campus.

The conference theme is "Where Generations Meet." Eight information tracks focusing on various aspects of family history will be offered.

Keynote speakers at the conference include Elder W. Rolfe Kerr, a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy and executive director of the Family and Church History Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as well as Raymond S. Wright III, Thomas Jones and Steven Olsen.

The cost for the conference is $175. Two credits of History 481R are also available at a cost of $322.

BYU faculty, staff and administrators' benefits may cover the cost of conference tuition. For more information about coverage through the BYU Benefits plan, check the Electronic University Handbook on Route Y. Those who qualify can call (801) 422-4853 to register and be cleared through Benefits. Allow two weeks for the clearance process to finalize.

The conference is sponsored by BYU Religious Education, the BYU History Department, the Center for Family History and Genealogy, LDS Family History Library, and Continuing Education.

Green-thumb dynasty: BYU landscaping wins fifth national championship in six years

For the fifth time in six years, BYU students dug, pruned and planted their way to the National Collegiate Landscaping Competition title, the March Madness of college landscaping teams. BYU bested 50 other universities in the four-day event, outscoring the second-place finisher by more than 358 points and breaking the 5000-point total for the first time in the 48-year history of the tournament.
