BYU to host Association for Mormon Letters conference March 8

Brigham Young University will host The Association for Mormon Letters 2008 Annual Conference on Saturday, March 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Wilkinson Student Center. This will mark the first time that the AML has held a meeting on BYU campus since its organization in 1976.

The conference will feature papers and panels on many aspects of Mormon literature. This year's theme is "The Scriptures as Literature, Literature as Scripture." Noted Bible scholar Harold Rawlings will be the featured guest speaker and will present a keynote address titled "The History of the Bible." Several BYU students and faculty members will be presenting at the conference.

The conference will also host the AML Awards luncheon, where awards will be given for the year's best contributions to Mormon literature. Later that evening, the AML Award winners will read from their own works at a public reception held at the Eugene and Charlotte England home starting at 6:30 p.m.

The conference is free and open to the public. Attendees can register in 3211 WSC on the day of the conference. Attendees are invited to pre-register for the awards luncheon online at http://www.mormonletters.org/events/aml2008.htm at a cost of $15 per person.

The program for the conference is available online at http://www.mormonletters.org/events/2008schedule.htm . Questions about the conference should be directed to Linda Hunter Adams at lindahunteradams@yahoo.com.
