BYU gallery, service center host photo gallery, discussion on service Sept. 11

“Y Serve: Come Serve with Me,” a free photo exhibit at the Education in Zion Gallery will begin Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the base of the spiral stairs in the Joseph F. Smith Building on the Brigham Young University campus.

This new exhibit will officially open at 4 p.m. in B192 Joseph F. Smith Building with a panel of professors. They will answer questions on the aims and purposes of service and the ways that it enhances a BYU education. Afterwards, guests are invited to view the exhibit and participate in a service activity. The first 100 guests will enjoy "Service Bars" from BYU Dining Services.

Co-sponsored by the Education in Zion Gallery and the Center for Service and Learning (Y-Serve), the exhibit will showcase service opportunities available to BYU students. In 2012, BYU offered 65 service programs, had 24,990 volunteers and completed 125,499 service hours. Programs included Adopt-a-Grandparent, Adaptive Aquatics, TOPS, crafts, cleaning and many more.

Service is one of the four aims of a BYU education.

The exhibit will be open until 9 p.m. on Wednesday nights. For more information, contact Heather Seferovich, Curator at the Education in Zion Gallery, (801) 422-3451.
