BYU funding strengthened to encourage study of Europe

The Center for the Study of Europe at Brigham Young University recently received $10,000 in additional funding from the Delegation of the European Commission, bringing total funding to $25,000.

The funding will be use to support activities that will foster interest in European topics and studies on campus and in the community, including European internship stipends, a teacher training seminar and Senior European Outreach Fellowships.

The teacher training workshop will take place on July 18, 20, and 22 and is open to all interested teachers. During this training teachers will be brought up-to-date on current European topics that can be incorporated into high school classrooms. Teachers attending the event have the option to receive three hours of BYU credit toward recertification or professional lane changes.

The Senior European Outreach Fellowships awarded during the 2005 spring and summer terms, are designed to increase European outreach programs and resources while advancing educators’ research and curriculum development goals.
