BYU Fine Arts and Entertainment Calendar for June 2007

Friday, June 1 through Saturday, June 16

BYU presents “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” to run every day except Sundays and Mondays. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. in the Pardoe Theater of the Harris Fine Arts Center, with several matinees also available. The musical is based on the popular characters in the “Peanuts” comic strip. Tickets are $12 for general admission, or $7 weeknights and $8 weekends with a BYU or student ID. Tickets can be purchased at the Fine Arts Ticket Office, by calling (801) 422-7664 or by visiting performances.byu.edu.

Friday, June 1 through Saturday, June 16

The BYU Museum of Art is hosting the "Beholding Salvation: Images of Christ” exhibit. The exhibit chronicles the life and ministry of Jesus Christ through 170 paintings, prints, icons, illuminated manuscripts and sculptures from diverse times and creeds. It also explores the artistic styles, conventions and symbols used in Christian art to engage the viewer and to encourage a deeper understanding of the viewer’s relationship to Deity. Admission is free. The museum is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

Wednesday, June 13 through Saturday, June 16

BYU presents “The Gondoliers” by Gilbert and Sullivan as its spring opera. All performances are at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall of the Harris Fine Arts Center. Tickets are $5 for performances on Wednesday and Thursday, and $10 for performances on Friday and Saturday. Tickets can be purchased at the Fine Arts Ticket Office, by calling (801) 422-7664 or by visiting performances.byu.edu. The opera is directed by Lawrence Vincent.

Friday, June 15

BYU’s University Chorale presents its spring concert. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Provo Tabernacle. Admission is free.

Friday, June 15 and Saturday, June 16

BYU’s Department of Dance presents a senior dance showcase at 7:30 p.m. The showcase will be in the Dance Studio Theatre, 166 Richards Building. Admission is free.

Friday, June 22

The Harris Fine Arts Center will be temporarily closed for renovations and maintenance. Reopening is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 1.
