BYU civil engineering professor receives UDOT Trail Blazer Award

Kyle Rollins, a researcher and professor of civil engineering at Brigham Young University, recently received the Utah Division of Transportation Research Division’s annual Trail Blazer Award given in recognition of his long-time contributions to the research of transportation in Utah.

Rollins is known locally and nationally for his research on pile foundations and load testing. His recent research includes evaluating and predicting corrosion rates of piles, the evaluation of the interaction between bridge structures for seismic performance-based design and field testing.

Several of his testing methods have received international recognition, and he was an International Faculty Scholar at the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras 2006.

Rollins received a bachelor’s degree in engineering at BYU before completing a doctoral program in civil engineering at the University of California-Berkeley.
