BYU Children’s DanceWorks Concert scheduled for Friday, Nov. 18

The Brigham Young University Children’s and Teen’s Creative Dance Program will present the fall semester Children’s DanceWorks Concert Friday, Nov. 18, at 4 and 5:15 p.m. in 166 Richards Building.

Tickets may be purchased at 147 Harman Building or at the door prior to the concert for $3.

The concert, directed by Kathleen Sheffield, will feature young dancers, ages 4 to 17, performing their own choreography. Not only will audiences witness original and creative dance routines, according to Sheffield, but they will have the opportunity to glimpse into the imagination and ideas of a child’s world.

The children not only choreograph the pieces, but choose the music and titles as well. Selections include innovative titles such as “Boo-Boo Truck,” “This is Not Organic Chemistry” and “Defying Gravity.”

With 350 local children enrolled, the BYU Children’s and Teen’s Creative Dance Program focuses on teaching children creative movement and how to use their imaginations in dance.

For more information, contact Kathleen Sheffield at (801) 422-2043.
