BYU Chamber Orchestra to premiere work during March 23 concert

Flutist April Clayton will perform Todd Coleman’s Flute Concerto

The Brigham Young University Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Kory Katseanes, will give a concert Friday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall in the Harris Fine Arts Center.

Tickets are $9 or $6 with a BYU or student ID. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the Fine Arts Ticket Office, by calling (801) 422-7664 or by visiting performances.byu.edu.

As a highlight, flutist April Clayton, a member of the BYU faculty, will present the world premiere of BYU alumnus Todd Coleman’s Barlow Endowment-commissioned Flute Concerto with the Chamber Orchestra.

The program will also include “Sigfried Idyll,” by Wagner and Bizet’s Symphony in C.

Todd Coleman now teaches at Grinnell College. He will be presenting his music, including his multi-media piece “Exquisite Corpse,” to students in the School of Music Thursday, March 22, at 3 p.m. in E-400 Harris Fine Arts Center. Admission to this event is free.

While he loves the many invaluable benefits of youth sports, he laments that his children often miss family activities for practice or face pressures to compete in sports during the offseason.
