BYU arts calendar opens with "Argentina" vocal recital Sept. 1

Brigham Young University’s School of Music presents “Argentina,” a celebration of Argentine music Thursday, Sept. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

This event is free and open to the public.

Arden Hopkin, baritone and professor from BYU, will join guest artists Carrie Culver, soprano and an assistant professor at Wooster State University, and Pej Reitz, pianist and an instructor at Ithaca College, in an evening of Argentine art song.

The concert will feature the music of Alberto Ginastera, Carlos Guastavino, Juan Pedro Esnaola, Gilardo Gilardi and Ivette Souviron. The evening will conclude with the traditional “Argentine Tangos” by Carlos Gardel.

For more information, contact Arden Hopkin at (801) 422-3157 or jahopkin@byu.edu.
