BYU administrator named to national continuing education commission

A consultant at the Center for Instructional Design at Brigham Young University was recently elected to a three-year term with the University Continuing Education Association Commission on Learning, Instruction and Technology.

Yvette Arts began her tenure as commissioner at the UCEA conference in San Antonio this month where she shared what she has learned from working with BYU's faculty.

UCEA is a flagship organization for using new distance education methodologies to extend higher education's reach.

"The excitement of learning from other institutions and to share what we know at BYU is the driving force behind my enthusiasm to serve as commissioner," Arts said.

"The opportunity to work with many of the leaders in distance education should further BYU's influence in this rapidly expanding field."

Arts works with the College of Humanities, the College of Fine Arts and Communications, Religious Education and the Marriott School of Management in helping integrate sound instructional design principles and meaningful uses of technology to make teaching more effective and efficient.

In addition to her responsibilities at BYU, Arts serves as a member of UCEA's Opportunity and Equities Committee.
