Brass music of Eric Ewazen featured at BYU recital Feb. 18

The Brigham Young University School of Music presents "An Evening of Brass Music by Eric Ewazen" featuring Brassworks, the BYU faculty brass ensemble, on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

The performance is free and the public is welcome to attend.

All music on the program has been composed by Eric Ewazen, composer-in-residence at the Juilliard School of Music.

Works will include Ewazen’s “Prelude and Fugue,” “Capriccio" for bass trombone and trombone choir, “Colchester Fantasy,” “Allegretto” from the Sonata for trumpet and piano, “Fantasia for Seven Trumpets” and “Western Fanfare.”

The performance will feature BYU School of Music faculty members David Brown and David Blackinton on trumpet, Laurence Lowe on horn, Daniel Bachelder on euphonium and Steve Call on tuba.

Also performing will be a brass quintet featuring Nathan Galloway and Jason Bergman on trumpet, Mariah Stringer on horn, Alisha Ard on trombone and Joe Jensen on tuba.

The performance will also feature the BYU Trumpet Choir, the BYU Trombone Choir and pianist Robin Hancock.
