"All This, and Heaven Too," a 1940 film classic starring Academy Award-winning actress Bette Davis, will be shown Friday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m. in the Harold B. Lee Library Auditorium as part of the Brigham Young University Motion Picture Archives Film Series.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free, but early arrival is encouraged as seating is limited. No food or drink is permitted in the auditorium. Children 8 years of age and older are welcome. BYU dress standards apply.
James V. D’Arc, a curator in the Lee Library's L. Tom Perry Special Collections and director of the film series, will provide background information on the film prior to the screening.
Davis stars as Henriette Deluzy Desportes, a governess implicated in the death of the wife of 19th century French diplomat Duc de Praslin — played by Charles Boyer — with whom she had an affair. The film is based on Rachel Field’s 1938 best-seller novel.
Utah-born screenwriter Casey Robinson adapted the novel for the screen and Max Steiner provided the musical scores.
The film continues the 10th anniversary season of the ongoing BYU Motion Picture Archives Film Series, co-sponsored by the Friends of the Harold B. Lee Library and Dennis and Linda Gibson.
