Barbara Culatta to deliver Feb. 3 BYU devotional address

Barbara Culatta, associate dean of the Brigham Young University David O. McKay School of Education, will present a devotional, “Loving our Neighbor: Tolerance and Acceptance as We Come Together in Knowing Christ,” Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 11:05 a.m. in the Marriott Center.

The devotional will be broadcast live on the BYU Broadcasting channels. For rebroadcast or archive information, visit byub.org/devotionals or speeches.byu.edu.

A professor of communication disorders, Culatta researches and teaches interventions to facilitate and strengthen children’s language and literacy. She is the principal investigator and project director for an early language and literacy instruction program titled Project SEEL, Systematic and Engaging Early Literacy Instruction.

Culatta has worked as a speech-language pathologist for the Rehabilitation Institute of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh public schools. She has held faculty positions at the University of Kentucky and the University of Rhode Island. In 2000 she joined the BYU faculty.

She received her bachelor’s degree from California University in Pennsylvania and her master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Pittsburg in speech-language pathology. In addition, she completed a post-doctoral fellowship from Johns Hopkins University.
