Arab refugees subject of lecture by British MP April 11 at BYU

Emma Harriet Nicholson, Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, will lecture on "Assisting Marsh Arabs and Refugees" Thursday, April 11, at 11 a.m. in the Harold B. Lee Library Auditorium at Brigham Young University.

This lecture is hosted by the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies. It is open to the general public and admission is free.

Nicholson was ennobled and took her seat as a member of the House of Lords in the United Kingdom Parliament in 1997, having also served as a member of the House of Commons and later in the European Parliament.

She is a member of the United Kingdom Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the European Security and Defense Assembly. She chairs the All-Party Parliamentary Groups for Foreign Affairs and for Economic Development in Iraq and the Region

Outside her responsibilities as a member of the House of Lords, Nicholson is executive chair of Iraq Britain Business Council, AMAR International Charitable Foundation and chair of Asociatia Children’s High Level Group in Romania.
