April Clayton to present BYU faculty flute recital Jan. 14

Brigham Young University School of Music faculty artist April Clayton, with collaborating artist Jed Moss, will perform a flute recital Saturday, Jan. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall of the Harris Fine Arts Center.

Admission is free and the public is welcome.

She will be performing the Sonata in G Minor, BWV 1020 by Johann Sebastian Bach, as well as one of her own compositions, “Winter Dreams” no. 3.

Clayton’s program will also feature “Winter Spirits” by Katherine Hoover and the Sonata, Op. 94 by Sergei Prokofieff.

Clayton, a native of Bountiful, Utah, attended Oberlin College and Conservatory as a National Merit Scholar and completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. At age 21, she was the youngest student ever admitted to the doctoral program at the Juilliard School, where she received her doctor of musical arts degree in May 2001.
