Annual Fall A Cappella Jam at BYU Oct. 17

The BYU A Cappella Club is sponsoring the 11th annual Fall A Cappella Jam Friday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. in the JSB Auditorium.

Six groups will perform fun, foot-stomping, hand-clapping music from barbershop to gospel to pop.

BYU's own Vocal Point will present some new material, including a popular medley of Primary songs. Other groups include Moosebutter, Milk, Upbeat, Close Shave and Blue Cheese.

Tickets are $4 if purchased before the show at the Information Booth in the Wilkinson Student Center (WSC), or $5 at the door.

A recent BYU study, led by nursing professor Corinna Trujillo Tanner, examined social isolation in an especially vulnerable group — older adults with vision and hearing impairments. Researchers say the results, showing higher social connection in US Hispanic and Mexican older adults, can be explained by the shared ethnic cultural value of familismo that prioritizes family, respect for the elders, and reliance on one another for essential support.
