Annual BYU Women's Conference scheduled for May 4-5

Co-sponsored by General Relief Society

Brigham Young University will host women from across the country for the annual Women's Conference, co-sponsored by the General Relief Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on Thursday and Friday, May 4-5.

President Boyd K. Packer of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ, BYU President Cecil O. Samuelson, BYU-Idaho President Kim B. Clark, the members of the General Relief Society Presidency of the Church and KTVX-4 news anchorwoman Ruth Todd will be among the featured speakers.

Addressing the theme “Rise to the Divinity Within You,” more than 200 presenters in approximately 90 sessions will discuss such topics as addiction, dealing with disabilities, teaching children chastity, effective communication between men and women, reverence, protecting against fraud and identity theft and the power of music in raising children.

Registration before April 14 costs $38 for the full conference and $22 for one day. Registration after April 14 is $45 for the full conference and $25 for one day.

Women and men age 16 and older may register for the conference. Logistical and safety constraints on campus no longer allow accommodations for nursing infants and young children in any conference session, including at the Marriott Center, the Thursday night dinner and residence halls

For registration and a schedule of conference proceedings, visit womensconference.byu.edu or call (801) 422-8925.

Conference participants will also have the opportunity to perform service during the conference at the "To Cheer and to Bless" activity Thursday evening. Participants in the service project will assemble 30,000 hygiene kits, 13,500 school kits and 6,500 newborn kits and will tie 100 quilts for Church Humanitarian Services.

The "To Cheer and to Bless” evening will also feature 50 booths displaying ideas on how to put into practice many of the principles taught during conference sessions.

A panel of university presidents’ wives—including Sharon Samuelson, Sue L. Clark, Carolyn M. Shumway and Suzan S. Young—will discuss the topic of “Valiant in the Testimony of Jesus Christ” Thursday afternoon.

Thursday evening entertainment options will include a “Hands of Heaven” multi-media presentation, violinist Rosalie Macmillan, the BYU Dancers’ Company, a Shadow Mountain Artists’ Sampler and a fiesta dinner with entertainment.

Tickets to the fiesta dinner at $13.50 must be purchased by April 14. All other entertainment events are free for registered conference participants with their name badges.

All of the general sessions will be translated into Spanish along with six other concurrent sessions delivered in Spanish during the conference.

Parking for the conference will be available adjacent to the Marriott Center, and courtesy vans will be available to transport participants to campus sites, with preference given to seniors and those with disabilities.

Eight hours of the conference will be broadcast Friday and Saturday, May 19 and 20, from 2 to 6 p.m. and from 6 to 10 p.m. MDT on the Church satellite system in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.

The sessions can also be viewed at those times on the BYU-Television satellite network and at byubroadcasting.org. Selected sessions will be available on KBYU-TV beginning May 28. Church units worldwide can view a rebroadcast on Saturday, May 20, and Saturday, May 27.
