American Piano Quartet to perform at BYU March 13

The Brigham Young University-based American Piano Quartet will perform on Tuesday, March 13, in the de Jong Concert Hall at 7:30 p.m. The quartet is comprised of artists Robin Hancock, Scott Holden and Paul Pollei.

Tickets at $9 or $6 with a BYU or student ID can be purchased by visiting the Fine Arts Ticket Office, by calling (801) 422-7664 or by visiting performances.byu.edu.

The program will begin with a number by Liszt, titled “Rakozky March.” Before intermission, the quartet will also perform music by Moscheles, Brahms and Chabrier. By the end of the concert, they will also have charmed the audience with a set called “Sweet in Poor Taste,” arranged by quartet member Scott Holden, which includes titles like “Twilight in Turkey,” “In an 18th-Century Drawing Room” and “Powerhouse.”

The last two numbers will be “The Moldau,” by Bedrich Smetana and a big finish with the Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2, again by Liszt.
