Albanian ambassador to the United States to speak Oct. 26 at BYU

His Excellency Aleksander Sallabanda, Albanian ambassador to the United States, will be the guest speaker at an Ambassadorial Insights lecture on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 11 a.m. in 238 Herald R. Clark Building at Brigham Young University.

Sallabanda was appointed ambassador in February 2006.

The former deputy minister of health, he served as the head of research programs and as national coordinator on HIV/AIDS/STD at the Institute of Public Health in the Ministry of Health of Albania.

In his joint academic and medical career, Sallabanda was director of the Research Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology and head of the Department of Public Health at the University of Tirana, head of the Microbiology Laboratory at the University of Tirana Hospital of Pulmonary Disease and TB, head of microbiology in District of Kukes Public Health, microbiologist at the Research Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology and a faculty member in medicine both as a microbiology specialist and as a general practitioner.
