Actor Joel McCrea's grandson to introduce BYU screening of "Ramrod" Oct. 22

Brigham Young University’s Harold B. Lee Library will be screening the 1947 western film, “Ramrod,” Friday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. in the library auditorium. Admission is free and children 8 years of age and older are welcome.

Wyatt McCrea, the grandson of famous Western star Joel McCrea, will be a special guest at the one-time showing. He will speak about his famous grandfather using film clips and excerpts from the oral history that he conducted with the actor shortly before his death.

The film, presented as part of the BYU Motion Picture Archive Film Series, stars Joel McCrea and Veronica Lake. The film was shot entirely in Utah’s ghost town of Grafton and in Zion National Park. It was dubbed “Utah's Centennial Movie” by the Utah state legislature as part of the Beehive State's centennial celebration.

The BYU Motion Picture Archive Film Series is co-sponsored by the L. Tom Perry Special Collections, the Friends of the Harold B. Lee Library and Dennis & Linda Gibson. A complete schedule of this special series featuring movie made in Utah is available at sc.lib.byu.edu.
