In her forum address at the Marriott Center, Jane Clayson Johnson, an Emmy winning journalist, highlighted the remarkable impact of BYU-Pathway Worldwide. This program is sponsored by the Church Educational System and provides affordable, spiritually based and accessible education to over 85,000 students in 180 countries.
“The reason BYU-Pathway works is because it is divinely inspired. And the reason BYU-Pathway students sacrifice so much is they believe God will help them,” Clayson Johnson said.
Through powerful stories of her time in Africa and a preview of the upcoming documentary "Pathway to Hope," Clayson Johnson highlighted the global reach of Church education and the sacrifices many students make to pursue learning.
“After working on this documentary, I know more than ever that the Lord is aware of all His children,” Clayson Johnson testified. “Their circumstances are very different from yours, but their faith in Jesus Christ and dedication to His Gospel is the same.”
She explained that many students complete coursework under difficult conditions, sometimes writing their assignments on cell phones, facing unstable housing or studying by candlelight. Yet they persist with resilience, gratitude and faith.
Their stories demonstrate how BYU-Pathway Worldwide not only educates but also lifts families, strengthens communities and builds the kingdom of God worldwide.
“He is gathering Israel on both sides of the veil. What an honor and a blessing it is for all of us, to be part of it,” Clayson Johnson expressed.
She ended by challenging the students in attendance to reflect on their own blessings and recognize their education as a sacred stewardship, meant to be shared in service with others.
