Name: Pamela Jo Brubaker
BYU employee since: 2013
My job at BYU is… teaching public relations and overseeing the graduate program in the School of Communications.
I’m currently working on… research that explores the influence of online trolls, as well as teaching materials that will help students learn survey research and digital storytelling.
I became a BYU fan when… I first heard about BYU. But my fandom was cemented when my mom took me and my siblings to greet the BYU football players at the Salt Lake City airport after the 1989 Holiday Bowl against Penn State. I am happy to be an alum of both universities.
Students don’t think I notice… their “loud” whispers when they talk with their classmates about their dating lives before, during or after class.
I get most excited about my work when… I can inspire students to use both faith and reason to study questions and find solutions.
My favorite quote is… “…seek learning, even by study and also by faith” (Doctrine and Covenants 88:118).
When I have 30 minutes of free time, you can find me… playing with my chickens in my backyard.
My favorite BYU tradition is… celebrating the Fourth of July at LaVell Edwards Stadium because I love fireworks, and I love celebrating birthdays.
The best-kept BYU secret is… the deer that frequent the southwest part of campus near the Brimhall Building.
You’ll never find me without… a Mary Poppins-like bag that magically stores more than it should.
