Scott Hunt named assistant vice president of information technology

Brigham Young University Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer Tracy Flinders has named Scott Hunt as a new assistant vice president of information technology. In this role, Hunt will assist in directing the work of the Office of Information Technology (OIT) at BYU and coordinating strategy and efforts with all Church Educational System institutions.

“Scott brings a broad range of experience and expertise, within OIT and across the university, to his new role,” Flinders said. “Through many years of devoted service in a variety of different assignments, Scott has developed the knowledge and skills required to succeed. Importantly, he has earned the trust and respect of his colleagues across campus, and I look forward to his continued contributions to the significant work of the university.”

Hunt’s appointment is effective immediately.

Most recently, Hunt served as the executive director for IT administration. In this role, he was responsible for the service management and project delivery organizations in OIT. He has established foundational definitions and principles for work efforts, organizational roles and roadmaps for the groups under his stewardship — something that is characteristic of Hunt’s management style. Prior to that position, he worked as the managing director of audiovisual services in OIT. He has held a variety of other technology-related roles since coming to BYU in 2001.

Originally from West Des Moines, Iowa, Hunt earned a bachelor’s degree in information systems from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master of Business Administration from BYU. He is a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, joining in 1995. While not at work, Hunt enjoys spending time with his family and hiking in the mountains. He and his wife Diana live in Payson, Utah, and are the parents of three children.
