BYU names new assistant administration vice president of finance

BYU Administration Vice President and CFO Steve Hafen announced today the hiring of Alan Moose as the new assistant administration vice president, finance.

In his new role, Moose will lead the financial services division and will be responsible for the university’s treasury, budget and accounting functions — which includes, among other things, oversight of university cash and investments management, taxation and coordination of campus financial controllership and auditing.

“Alan brings a rich financial management background, a strong love for BYU and excellent leadership capabilities,” Hafen said.

Prior to joining BYU as university controller in 2021, Moose served in leadership roles for over 20 years with Deere & Company, a multinational Fortune 100 company, which manufactures agricultural and other heavy equipment.

Moose earned a degree from BYU’s Master of Accountancy program, and then began his career with the international public accounting firm of Price Waterhouse (now PwC).

Effective July 1, Moose will replace Douglas Belliston who is retiring from BYU after 30 years of service in various financial leadership roles.

“Doug has been an outstanding and dedicated employee at BYU —the ultimate team player — and he will be missed. We wish him the very best as he begins this new chapter in his life!” Hafen said.
