Welsh scholar to discuss U.S. drug policy at BYU lecture March 30

The Global Focus Lecture series at the Kennedy Center for International Studies at Brigham Young University will host a guest speaker from the University of Wales-Swansea, Wednesday, March 30, at noon in 238 Herald R. Clark Building.

David Bewley-Taylor, a professor of American studies, will present "The Long Reach: The United States and the Limits to Drug Policy Liberalization in Europe."

At the University of Wales-Swansea, Bewley-Taylor serves on the learning and teaching committee and as the director of the study abroad internship program and as the coordinator of department quality. He also serves as an occasional commentator on American politics for BBC Radio-Wales and on international drug policy for other media organizations.

Bewley-Taylor's publications have been cited widely in academic and other publications in the United States, Canada and Australia, including the "Economist, The American Crusade: The Internationalization of Drug Prohibition," "Addiction Research and Theory" and "Habits of a Hegemon: The United States and the Future of the Global Drug Prohibition Regime."
