University of Copenhagen professor at BYU Kennedy Center lecture April 4

The David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies at Brigham Young University will host K. Brian Soderquist, an adjunct professor of theology at the University of Copenhagen, for an Area Focus Lecture Tuesday, April 4, at 1 p.m. in 238 Herald R. Clark Building.

Soderquist will address “Openness and Closure in ‘Fear and Trembling.’” Admission is free and the public is welcome.

Soderquist has conducted research on Kierkegaard, existentialism and 19th-century German and Danish idealism. He has also authored, translated and edited several publications.

He received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and natural science from Utah State University, a master’s degree in the philosophy of religion from Yale University and a doctoral degree in theology from the University of Copenhagen.

BYU’s space ace: Minor planet named in honor of Jani Radebaugh

BYU planetary geology professor Jani Radebaugh’s contributions to planetary science have reached cosmic proportions as she recently received the prestigious honor of having a minor planet named her. The asteroid, previously known as “45690,” now bears the name “45690janiradebaugh” on official NASA/JPL websites.
