The University Chorale will perform a number of sacred pieces, including sections of a major choral work of Mozart and songs set to Shakespeare sonnets, in its annual "Evening Song" concert on Saturday, June 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Provo Tabernacle. Admission is free.
The concert will begin with “Praise the Lord of Heaven,” “Prayer is the Soul’s Sincere Desire,” “The King of Love My Shepherd Is” and three sections of Mozart’s Litaniae de venerabili altaris Sacramento.
The chorale will close the performance with George Shearing’s “Songs and Sonnets from Shakespeare, featuring “Live with me and be my love” from Sonnets to Sundry Notes of Music, “Who is Silvia?” from Two Gentleman of Verona and “It was a lover and his lass” from As You Like It.
The University Chorale is under the direction of Cherie Hall and Jared Oaks. Monica Hymas, piano, and Ceri Benson, organ, will accompany the group.
