Sally T. Taylor, Suzanne Lundquist featured at BYU reading series Feb. 3

Two Brigham Young University professors, Sally T. Taylor and Suzanne Lundquist, will read from their own writings as part of the English Reading Series Friday, Feb. 3, at noon in the Harold B. Lee Library auditorium.

Admission is free and the public is welcome.

An emeritus professor of literature, Taylor earned her doctorate in dramatic literature from the University of Utah and taught composition and literature for 26 years. She has published a volume of poetry, as well as several essays and articles.

An Alcuin Award winner, Taylor’s sonnets on the life of Joseph Smith accompanied BYU professor Murray Boren’s music in performances at BYU and Temple Square last October as part of the bicentennial celebration of the prophet’s life.

Since the publication of her first book, “Trickster: A Transformation Archetype,” Lundquist has published articles with the Modern Language Association, The National Council for the Teachers of English, The American Literature Association and other literary journals.

Lundquist also received an Alcuin Award for outstanding teaching and a Multicultural Education Award for her work with Native Americans. She taught at Portland State University, Eastern Michigan University and the University of Michigan before coming to BYU.
