New book to accompany BYU Sperry Symposium Oct. 26-27

The Brigham Young University Religious Studies Center and Deseret Book have released a volume of papers to coincide with the 36th annual Sidney B. Sperry Symposium to be held on BYU campus Oct. 26 and 27.

“Living the Book of Mormon: ‘Abiding by Its Precepts,’ The 36th Annual Brigham Young University Sidney B. Sperry Symposium,” contains papers that will be presented at the 2007 symposium.

This year the symposium takes its theme, “Living the Book of Mormon: ‘Abiding by Its Precepts,’” from Joseph Smith’s introductory statement to the Book of Mormon.

“I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book,” he said.

Presenters include Elder Joe J. Christensen, general authority emeritus for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Terry B. Ball, Richard O. Cowan and Robert L. Millet.
