Monte Swain to deliver BYU devotional address May 27

Monte Swain, a faculty member in the School of Accountancy at Brigham Young University, will discuss "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God?" during a university devotional on Tuesday, May 27, at 11:05 a.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

The devotional will be broadcast live on BYU Television, KBYU TV, KBYU FM and byubroadcasting.org. For rebroadcast information, visit byubroadcasting.org.

Currently the Deloitte Professor of Accountancy, Swain has won the Ernst and Young BYU Outstanding Educator Award, the Marriott School of Management Outstanding Teacher Award and the BYU Marriott Alumni Board Teaching Excellence Award, which he has earned three times.

He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from BYU and his doctorate from Michigan State University, where he taught before coming to BYU in 1991. His research interests include accounting and the Theory of Constraints, the impact of the Balanced Scorecard framework on decision processes and accounting and ebusiness.

His professional experience includes service on the editorial board of Issues in Accounting Education, the board of directors for QSI Corporation and CFO of Authorize.net, a subsidiary of InfoSpace.com.

I love to see the temple… but I need a microscope

In honor of BYU’s 150th anniversary, electrical engineering professor Greg Nordin and student Callum Galloway have created 150 microscopic replicas of existing LDS temples, all on a 12-by-19 millimeter microchip. Each of these unique temples — 150 different floor plans to celebrate 150 years of BYU — is less than a grain of rice in length.
