Geralyn Giovannetti to give BYU faculty oboe recital Jan. 10

Geralyn Giovannetti, a Brigham Young University School of Music faculty member, will present an oboe recital Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 5:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

The performance is free and the public is welcome to attend. Jed Moss will accompany Giovannetti on the piano.

Giovannetti’s recital will feature the Concerto in D minor, Op. 9 by Tomaso Albinoni, the Sonata, Op. 100 by Edmund Rubbra and the Sonata (2004) by Bill Douglas.

She will also perform “Italian Dance” by Madeleine Dring, “Oblivion” by Astor Piazzolla and Concert Piece, Op. 33 by Julius Rietz.

Giovannetti received her master's degree from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and her doctorate degree from the University of Michigan. She has performed with the orchestras of London, Kitchener and Calgary, as well as the Utah Symphony and the Canadian Chamber Orchestra.

She performs with Orpheus Winds, BYU's resident faculty woodwind quintet. She also performs with the Utah Chamber Orchestra and the Canadian quintet Essex Winds.
