European and Islamic Ideologies topic of Women's Studies Colloquium March 16

The Women’s Studies Colloquium at Brigham Young University will host Julianne Parker, a student in art history with a minor in African studies and international development, for a lecture Thursday, March 16, at noon in 4188 Joseph F. Smith Building.

Parker will present her research findings as she discusses “The Mix of European and Islamic Ideologies in the 19th Century Damascene Bride.”

Admission is free and the public is welcome.

Upon graduation, Parker hopes to attend the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London to pursue a master’s degree in African studies.

The Women's Studies Colloquium at BYU is a scholarly forum for discussion, intellectual development and collaboration among students, faculty and others interested in participating in an interdisciplinary community of Women's Studies scholars.

On alternate weeks, the Women’s Research Institute shows free films dealing with women and women’s issues as part of the Women’s Studies Film Series.
