Elder David A. Bednar to address BYU devotional

Elder David A. Bednar, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will speak at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, in the de Jong Concert Hall, Harris Fine Arts Center, at the Brigham Young University devotional.

Live broadcasts of the devotional will be available on KBYU-TV (channel 11 in most areas), BYU-Television, KBYU-FM (89.1), BYU-Radio satellite networks and byubroadcasting.org as well as on campus in the Joseph Smith building auditorium and the Varsity Theater in the Wilkinson Student Center.

An alumnus of BYU, Bednar graduated with a bachelor's degree in communication and a master's degree in organizational communication. He also received a doctoral degree from Purdue University.

Prior to his current responsibilities Bednar served as president of Ricks College, which at that time was the largest junior college in the United States with an enrollment of 8,500 full-time students.

He is the author (with Donald D. White) of Organizational Behavior: Understanding and Managing People at Work, 2nd Edition (Allyn and Bacon, 1991) and (with Donald D. White and Ronald Sims) Readings in Organizational Behavior (Allyn and Bacon, 1992).

Bednar's publications have appeared in Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Academy of Management Review, Human Relations, Quality Progress and Quality Management Journal.
