Elaine S. Dalton to give BYU devotional address Jan. 15

Elaine S. Dalton, Young Women general president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will speak Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 11:05 a.m. in the Marriott Center for a Brigham Young University campus devotional.

The devotional will not be broadcast live on the BYU Broadcasting channels or online at byub.org. It will be available live at the Joseph Smith Building auditorium. In her speech she will show a clip for which broadcast rights could not be obtained. Rebroadcast and archive information will be available at byub.org/devotionals or speeches.byu.edu.

Prior to her calling as the Young Women general president in April 2008, Sister Dalton served as both first and second counselor in the Young Women general presidency. She also served on the Young Women General Board for five years.

A native of Ogden, Sister Dalton received her bachelor’s degree in English from BYU in 1968.

Making fashion out of art: Students hit the runway with designs inspired by BYU Museum of Art exhibit

BYU students recently showcased fashion and makeup designs in a runway show at the Museum of Art. They each designed and modeled a look inspired by one of the paintings on exhibit from an art museum in Puerto Rico. On display until Jan. 3, The Sense of Beauty: Six Centuries of Painting from Museo de Arte de Ponce showcases world-class art that reflects the innate beauty of the human experience.

A Farmer's Field of Dreams? BYU-built smart tech maps moisture levels, will adjust watering automatically

The team of BYU engineers placed 86 Bluetooth devices throughout a 50-hectare field near Elberta, Utah, to measure water levels across every inch of the field. Placing this many sensors in a commercial field is unprecedented and allows researchers to see unique patterns that have never before been captured.
