Czech ambassador plans BYU lecture May 12

His Excellency Petr Kolar, ambassador to the United States for the Czech Republic, will be speaking at Brigham Young University Wednesday, May 12, at noon in 238 Herald R. Clark Building.

Kolar’s lecture is titled “Transatlantic Relations from the Czech Perspective: Where We Are and Where We Are Heading.” The event is open to the public and will also be archived online. For more information, visit kennedy.byu.edu.

Kolar has previously served as deputy minister of foreign affairs, ambassador to Ireland and Sweden and advisor to the Czech president. He also served as director of the Eastern and Southern Europe Territorial Department and foreign policy advisor to the foreign minister.

He has also conducted research at various institutions, including the Norwegian Nobel Institute, the Institute for International Relations in Prague, and the Institute of Strategic Studies in Prague.

Kolar received an education in information technology, library science and ethnography at Charles University, faculty of arts in Prague. He went on to study at Woodrow Wilson International Center in Washington, D.C. and at the University of London's Institute of Historical Research.
