BYU offers free concerts April 12

A student cello ensemble, the Jazz Lab Band and the University Chorale all perform for free Tuesday, April 12, at Brigham Young University.

  • The student cello ensemble will perform at 5:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall. Julie Bevan Reed will conduct the concert. The students will perform various pieces including "Unforgiven" by Metallica, a Beatles medley arranged by Scott Lesser and the Requiem, op. 66 by David Popper.

  • The Jazz Lab Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall. The Jazz band was designed for those who are serious musicians with busy schedules. The band meets in the evening to accommodate those who want to participate in the band. They will perform a variety of popular jazz pieces.

  • The University Chorale will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall. Paul Broomhead and Jill Winters will conduct the chorale as they sing a variety of pieces including "Surely He Hath Borne Our Griefs" by George Frederic Handel, "Christ the Lord is Risen Today" by Joseph Hoffman, "Peace, Evermore!" by Jackson Berkey and "Sun's A-rising" by Ben Allaway.

    BYU’s space ace: Minor planet named in honor of Jani Radebaugh

    BYU planetary geology professor Jani Radebaugh’s contributions to planetary science have reached cosmic proportions as she recently received the prestigious honor of having a minor planet named her. The asteroid, previously known as “45690,” now bears the name “45690janiradebaugh” on official NASA/JPL websites.
