BYU Noteworthy’s concert will feature music from their new album as well as other favorites

On Nov. 9, BYU Noteworthy will present a concert in conjunction with the release of their new album, “How Sweet the Sound: Songs of Inspiration.”
Caitlin Wilcox, who sings bass in the group and studies music education, expressed her excitement about the concert, upcoming album and new group dynamic.
“It is such a new group,” Wilcox said. “We have six new girls this year, including a new beatboxer. We weren’t sure how fast we would get on our feet, but everyone has been so amazing. It is a completely different feel from last year’s group.”
The concert will include a thrilling and varied repertoire of unique, custom arrangements and the best pop vocals BYU has to offer. It will showcase selections from their new album, which focuses on inspiration and inner peace, as well as more upbeat numbers.
“We have a couple of oldies we have revamped that are really fun and jazzy,” Wilcox said. “I think it is important to show both sides in concerts and make sure the audience knows they are there to have a good time and are in a safe place where they can feel happy and hopeful.”
The album includes songs written by Noteworthy’s director, Keith Evans, unique arrangements of traditional hymns, as well as a rendition of “There’s a Place for Us” by Carrie Underwood.
A music video was recently released featuring Noteworthy’s version of “How Great Thou Art,” also included on the album. The arrangement was created by BYU School of Music alum Catherine Papworth Williams and has been sung in the group for years, even before they became officially sponsored by BYU. Other School of Music alums such as Amy Whitcomb, who appeared on The Voice, and past Noteworthy members are featured.
Attendees will have the chance to purchase the album in person before its official release, as well as see a never-before-seen music video collaboration with the BYU Women's Chorus. BYU Noteworthy in concert will be a touching, invigorating show not to be missed.
