Academy Award-winning film featured at Lee Library film series Nov. 22

“Maya Lin: A Strong Clear Vision”

The Harold B. Lee Library’s Art and Architecture Film Series “Four Contemporary Architects” will feature the Academy Award-winning film “Maya Lin: A Strong Clear Vision” Tuesday, Nov. 22, at 4 p.m. in the Lee Library auditorium at Brigham Young University.

All are invited to attend, and admission is free.

The 98-minute documentary highlights artist, architect and sculptor Maya Lin, a daughter of Chinese immigrants who, at age 21, designed the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. Critic Gene Siskel called Maya Lin a role model and couldn’t wait to show the film to his daughters after he had seen it.

The New York Post called it “An incredibly moving, must-see film,” and the Boston Globe hailed it as the finest film about a contemporary artist.

The film also shows Lin’s other notable achievements, including the Civil Rights Memorial, the Yale Women’s Table and the Juniata Peace Chapel.

For more information about the film, contact Fine Arts Librarian Christiane Ramsey at chris_ramsey@byu.edu, or visit the library’s Web site at www.library.byu.edu/art.
