Brigham Young University technology students traveled to Ghana where they built and installed an electricity-generating merry-go-round at a school in Essam village. As many as 10,000 schools in Ghana have no electricity. The merry-go-round will charge portable LED lights that can be used in classrooms and in homes.

The merry-go-round was designed and engineered by BYU students in the School of Technology in the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering and Technology.
