My job at BYU: Associate Professor and Associate Director of the School of Family Life
Currently I’m working with... other colleagues in the School of Family Life on the CREATE project, a nationally representative longitudinal study of newly married couples. I'm focusing my research on the couples who are transitioning to parenthood, or who became parents prior to their marriage.
My Honors Family Science 160 course from Dr. Tom Holman ...sparked my interest in my field.
When I tell people I work for BYU, they often... ask me what courses I teach.
When I have 30 minutes of free time, you can find me... reading with my children or baking chocolate chip cookies.
My advice to incoming freshman is... don’t be afraid to ask for help. Your professors care about you and want to help you.
My go-to BYU Creamery flavor is... Graham Canyon.
My favorite spot on campus is... the Education in Zion Gallery in the Joseph F. Smith Building because it reminds me of our core purpose at BYU to educate not only our minds, but our whole souls.
My most cherished memory at BYU was... attending a lecture series for students in the BYU Honors Program on becoming a disciple-scholar.
You’ll never find me without... a smile for my friends – if you’re lucky, I may also have some chocolate.
My favorite quote is... from a recent General Conference address by Sister Neill F. Marriott: “A meek heart accepts the trial and the waiting for that time of healing and wholeness to come.”
